Terms of use
Last updated 7 September 2026
Logline is distributed through the App Store, and use of it is governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement. We impose no separate terms of our own — there is no account, no server and no service to sign up for. What follows describes the subscription and sets out what the app does and does not promise.
The subscription
Logline requires an auto-renewing subscription, offered as a monthly or an annual plan in a single App Store subscription group. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency before you buy, and Apple sets them per territory.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- It renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or in the App Store app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for.
- Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. A trial is available once per Apple Account per subscription group.
Refunds are handled by Apple under their standard terms; we cannot issue them.
Your records are yours
Your logbook is stored on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account. We hold no copy and can neither read nor recover it. The app can export your whole log as a single backup file and as CSV at any time, and the backup remains reachable even if your subscription lapses — six seasons of maintenance history is not something to hold behind an expired card.
Because we hold no copy, losing your device without a backup means losing the log. Make backups.
What Logline does not do
Logline is a record. It does not advise, predict or interpret. A maintenance interval is what the manufacturer or you set — never a recommendation Logline is making, and never a substitute for a manufacturer’s service schedule or a qualified marine engineer.
It is not a navigation instrument. It shows no charts, plots no courses and provides no routing or collision avoidance. Do not use it to navigate. Position is recorded only to log where a trip went, and the recorded track is not suitable for any navigational purpose. Where a finished trip is drawn over a map, that map is a general-purpose one supplied by Apple: it shows land, not depths, buoys or lights, and it is there to illustrate a passage already made.
The anchor watch is not a safety device. It is a convenience that watches a circle you drew and sounds an alarm if the boat leaves it. It depends on the app continuing to run: iOS may shut Logline down at any time to reclaim memory, and if it does, the watch stops without warning you. It also depends on the position fix, which degrades below decks and in poor conditions. Do not substitute it for proper ground tackle, an anchor bearing, a depth alarm or a human watch, and do not rely on it where dragging would put the vessel or anybody aboard at risk.
Tide predictions are supplied by the United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, cover United States waters only, and are predictions rather than observations — actual water levels vary with weather and barometric pressure. They are shown for reference and are not a substitute for an official tide table.
Reports generated by the app — the ship’s log, the maintenance report, a claim summary — reflect only what you entered. They are not certified surveys and carry no warranty as to completeness or accuracy.
Availability
The app is provided as-is. It runs entirely on your device, so it does not depend on us keeping a service running — but we make no warranty that it is free of defects, and features may change between versions.
